An noteworthy art exhibition opened yesterday in Bishkek. Under the title „Unique Journey“ (Өзгөчө Саякат, Уникальное Путешествие) Daniel Girardin, the curator of the Musée de l’Elysée created an astonishing documentation of Kyrgyz culture from 1932 to 2010. The timetravel starts with the photographies of Ella Maillart (Switzerland), who traveled Central Asia when the Russian influence was still at its very early stages and documented her experiences in expressive photographs. The black and white drawings by Malik Kutlu (Turkey) tell about the difficult life of the Kyrgyz nomad tribe of his familiy. His father was Ramankul the great Khan of the little Pamir and lead that clan.
The Watercolors of Yuristanbek Shygaev (Kyrgyzstan) show traditional motives and portrays of Kyrgyz people with deepness and well beyond what people get served on the local tourist kitsch market.
The color photos of Dao Truong (Switzerland) are the antipole to Maillart’s historic photos. In 2010 the visited the highlands in the Small Pamir of Afghanistan where an isolated population of Kyrgyz nomads still life the traditional life.
